Service Description

Join us for a relaxed Highlands in Winter tour with your local guide, who spent many memorable years at Culloden Battlefield and enjoys sharing stories of the battle, 18th-century Highland life, clan traditions and local history. Together, we’ll explore Culloden’s atmospheric winter landscape, discover the stories behind tartans, kilts and Highland folklore, visit a beautiful castle on the shores of Loch Ness, meet some adorable Highland cows, and stop in a cosy village for local treats. Along the way, we’ll also visit the Black Isle’s last remaining distillery for a warming dram or two, with a few special Highland traditions woven into the day. This is one of our absolute favourite and most popular tours, and because spaces fill up so quickly, we warmly recommend booking ahead of time to make sure you secure your tour date. MAIN ATTRACTIONS (not limited to): ★ Urquhart Castle (admission fee included): A dramatic historic stronghold overlooking Loch Ness, especially atmospheric in winter. ★ Loch Ness: Beautiful, mysterious and wonderfully moody through the colder months — home, of course, to our beloved Nessie. ★ Culloden Battlefield: A moving winter walk across the historic 1746 battlefield. ★ Culloden Visitor Centre (admission fee required): Discover the story of the battle and the people whose lives were changed by it. ★ Leanach Cottage: The iconic 18th-century thatched cottage on the grounds of Culloden Battlefield. ★ Clava Cairns: A peaceful 4,000-year-old burial site, made even more atmospheric by the quiet of winter. ★ Glen Ord Singleton Distillery (tasting at your discretion): Warm up with a visit to this historic single malt distillery on the Black Isle. ★ Beauly: A charming Highland village with medieval sights and cosy places to enjoy local food and treats. ★ Robertson’s Farm Shop: Meet friendly locals, say hello to the Highland cows, and enjoy a relaxed countryside stop. ALTERNATIVE ATTRACTIONS (If time permits): ★ Clootie Well ★ Inverness Castle
